Deanne Lachner has been editing for about ten years, and has worked for a publishing house and an advertising agency in Dallas. She taught public middle school and high school English classes for eight years and junior college English for two years. In addition, she taught career (resume/portfolio/group dynamics) classes at ITT Tech and KD Studio in Dallas for two years.

Ms. Lachner has published many articles ("Young Company Profiles" and travel articles) in Direct Selling News and Empowering Women, as well as short pieces about the publishing industry for Performance Magazine. She has ghostwritten a financial-planning book for a major Dallas radio-station host (yet to be published) and has edited and/or proofread over 30 other fiction and nonfiction books.

Her favorite "fun" books are anything with a bit of mystery, especially books with courtroom drama and crime scene investigation details. She enjoys all of the books she used to share with her AP seniors. The book that really changed the way she thinks is Ishmael by Daniel Quinn, whom she has met and finds to be absolutely fascinating.

Favorite Novels/Novellas (alphabetical order by title):
  • 1984, George Orwell
  • Beowulf, Seamus Heaney
  • The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer
  • Catch-22, Joseph Heller
  • Ishmael, Daniel Quinn
  • Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
  • Siddhartha, Hermann Hesse
