The Winter 2005 Charles Shafae' Scholarship Fund winner is Donald Upton
Donald Upton is a junior at the University of Arkansas.
He is double majoring in English and Anthropology. Donald
is also pursuing a double minor in French and Classical
Studies. He has been studying French since junior high
school. Donald also enjoys writing short stories. Donald
is very passionate about Anthropology and would like
to pursue a Ph.D. in Classical Archeology.
Donald was awarded an honor scholarship to travel abroad
and has studied at The University of Bristol in the UK.
This gave him first-hand experience in his chosen field
of study. Studying in Europe had been one of his lifelong
goals; studying in the UK gave him the opportunity to
learn about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round
Table. This is the story that led Donald to pursue his
current academic path. He now has expanded his studies
to include Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, among others.
