Paresh Dave is the Winter 2010 Scholarship Winner

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (MARKET WIRE) — December 7, 2010 — Papercheck, a leader in editing and proofreading services, announced that the Winter 2010 Charles Shafaé Scholarship Fund winner is Paresh Dave, a junior at the University of Southern California, majoring in Print and Digital Journalism.

Paresh’s three academic passions are politics, writing, and computers, and he would like to pursue a career that bridges all of those subjects, such as journalism, law, or politics. His dream is to work for the New York Times, build a network through contacts in the media world, and then eventually move into politics.

Paresh is the executive producer at Neon Tommy, the online publication of USC. He is also the recipient of the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship. A personal achievement of his is having seen all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums. When he was younger, he told his father that he would like to see every stadium in the U.S. Since then, he and his family have seen five or six a year, finishing this year in Minnesota.

Paresh’s winning essay was based on his passion for and understanding of technology. It described how Apple and Microsoft have their respective places in consumer and corporate cultures.

Papercheck received over 108 submissions for the winter scholarship award. To be eligible, a student must be an undergraduate in good standing at an accredited four-year U.S. university or college and maintain at least a 3.2 GPA. Each scholarship winner must write an essay of at least 1,000 words on a subject selected by Papercheck. Essays are judged on grammar and content.
